After visiting the Vatican we stopped here for lunch. It is in the basement of the building. It is well air conditioned. We were seated right away. A lot of us are Cesar salads and our daughter had the gluten free pasta. A great place in Rome for gluten free. They are Celiac approved. Place filled up with your groups as we were finishing up.

The food is very good, especially after spending a long day touring the Vatican.  We had the carbonara pasta, the sauce was just a bit thick but very tasty, and the pizzas were solidly good.  The only slight disappointment was the osso bucco which had very little meat on the bone. This is a good place to rest and recharge.  The house wine was nice too.

    Service was excellent.

I think this place has a lot of potential if they treated all their customers as locals. I get that their target customers might be tourists in Rome but they need to keep in consideration that nowadays a lot of people are foodies, and that some of their customers might actually be cooks, like me!
The service was really good, nicest waiter ever! Super informative and sold the menu very well. I loved their pizza, what a deliciousness! and their wine selection. The carbonara pasta was also delish but the saltimboca was a total turn down. (See the picture) only three slices of meat and mashed potatoes for €18 or €22. I can't remember. I mean, dont get me wrong, the flavors were really good but the portion not so much. I think the main courses were a little bit over priced. Also the presentation of the saltimboca was kinda old-fashioned not like all the beautiful pictures I had seen online.
I would recommend to go and try more things from their menu.

High expectations for this place after rave reviews on Yelp, but sadly disappointed. Ordered the sliced beef steak. It looked lean upon arrival, but was actually extremely marbled. Some prefer fattier cuts of beef, but there was barely any actual lean meat on it. Maybe got 4-5 bites that were edible, the rest was fat. For €20 I felt a little robbed. My mom ordered the salmon and half came out raw. :( The roasted potatoes were good though!
The place itself was really neat in a basement-like setting with very nice waiters, but the food was just subpar.

Such a hidden, little gem close to the Vatican (but outside of the tourist trap area).

My husband and I had an intimate wedding in Rome - they have a small room downstairs for private parties/large groups, which was perfect.

The pasta was the perfect consistency - dense, and not chewy, the produce fresh and the meats/seafood delicious (as I heard). I'm vegetarian, but everyone else eats everything - they easily accommodated and had an extensive gluten free menu too.

What really stood out here aside from the food was the service. We had a v sweet Bangladesh waiter (can't remember his name unfortunately but have his pic!) who graciously waited on all 18 of us, and when he found out it was my niece and nephew's birthday, he literally squealed, and got the managers/owners, who came in w a cake w a firecracker candle and sang happy birthday and gave Kinder eggs w toys in them (kids love these, and they're not cheap!). First class, genuine warmth and hospitality.

My husband and I are avid cyclists, and have frequented the best Italian having lived in SF/NY - we love good carbs :) But, this was truly a special meal that will not be forgotten. If you want something warm (literally and figuratively) and authentic, come here. We hope to come back!
